BALMAIN AT
MET GALA 2025
MAY 2025
The Parisian Luxury House Balmain dressed five notable guests for the 2025 MET Gala

Balmain was honored to dress a select group of distinguished guests at the 2025 Met Gala, celebrating this year’s theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”: Priyanka Chopra, Rosalia, Jenna Ortega, Jeremy O’Harris, with custom made looks and Patrick Schwarzenegger with a runway look from FW25 collection. Creative Director Olivier Rousteing’s designs paid homage to the artistry of couture and the power of personal expression through bespoke tailoring.
The Met Gala 2025 dress code is a nod to this year’s Costume Institute exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, which spotlights the evolution and artistry of menswear and suiting. Drawing from centuries of fashion history, the exhibition examines how tailoring has shaped not only menswear, but broader notions of identity, gender, and self-expression. This theme invited attendees to reinterpret the codes of classic suiting through a modern, personal lens, setting the stage for a red carpet filled with innovation, elegance, and individuality.
This season’s theme also underlined the strong bond between the Parisian Maison and its tailoring couture heritage. Designed exclusively by Olivier Rousteing, each look showcases Balmain’s signature blend of heritage, innovation, and craftsmanship. Drawing inspiration from this year’s theme, the designs reimagined classic and archival silhouettes with a bold, modern twist, perfectly capturing the transformative spirit of tailoring through the creative vision of Rousteing.

PRIYANKA CHOPRA
Global superstar, with over 90M followers, Priyanka embodies Balmain’s bold and modern aesthetic. A tribute to the timeless tradition of tailoring at the House of Balmain, Olivier Rousteing exclusively reimagined for her a vintage ensemble from Pierre Balmain's 1952/53 collections.
The look featured a structured dress with a conical bust and a delicately draped neckline, adorned with polka-dot button detailing. The jacket, with its elegant peplum, flows into a long skirt, evoking the grandeur of mid-century haute couture. A black straw hat, velvet-accented gloves, and black polka dots on an ivory background complete this sophisticated, historically rich silhouette.

ROSALIA
Boundary-pushing artist whose global impact spans music, fashion, and culture, Rosalia wore a sculptural bodice, echoing the form of a Stockman mannequin - as archetypal piece of the couture atelier - crafted in glossy, flocked silicone, molded precisely to her own silhouette.

Love letter to precision and uniqueness, the look is completed by a masterfully draped faille skirt wraps around the body like a meticulously handled canvas, embodying both precision and grace.

JENNA ORTEGA
Breakout star with over 37 million followers and massive cultural relevance, actress Jenna Ortega embodies Balmain’s edgy, modern spirit by wearing a striking look inspired by the art of tailoring tape & rulers.

A poetical ode to couture and craftsmanship, her sleek sheath dress is crafted entirely from the metallic rulers used by patternmakers, placed vertically along the body to enhance the silhouette to create a bustier gown sculpted on her body.

JEREMY O’HARRIS
Member of the Met Gala Committee, actor and screenwriter Jeremy O’Harris continues to bridge the worlds of culture and couture, making him a vital contributor to this year’s theme, “Tailored for You.” An homage to Black Dandyism, his look by Balmain drawn inspiration from legendary Black jockey James Winkfield, channeling the elegance and pride of early 1900s Black Dandy culture.

He wore a costume evocative of the Belle Époque: a blue satin jacket paired with crisp white grain de poudre trousers. A cotton poplin shirt featuring a lavallière bow and a formal plastron completed the look, blending historical sophistication with contemporary audacity.
PATRICK SCHWARZENEGGER
An emerging actor steadily carving out his own path in Hollywood, Patrick Schwarzenegger is making a name for himself with standout roles in both film and tv series like The White Lotus.

For the 2025 Met Gala, he embraced the synergy between the event’s theme and Balmain’s heritage, by wearing a look straight from the Balmain Fall/Winter 2025 runway: wide pinstripe twill pants paired with a two-button pinstripe wool jacket and matching gloves. A bold yellow satin shirt added a striking pop of color, while a textured belt and the iconic Balmain Anthem clutch, adorned with a signature golden buckle, completed the ensemble.
